Hot plate operation procedure Stuart SD 300

OBJECTIVE 

To provide the hotplate Stuart SD 300 operation procedure.

SCOPE 

This SOP is applicable to the hotplate Stuart SD 300 operation procedure.

RESPONSIBILITY 

Quality Control Analyst shall be responsible for following the procedure mentioned in this SOP.

ACCOUNTABILITY 

QC Head and QA Head shall be accountable for compliance of this SOP.

PROCEDURE

Position the instrument on a firm level surface away from any heat sensitive or flammable material.

Plug in the hotplate.

The digital display will illuminate and show the word OFF.

Switch the instrument on by pressing the left hand one of the 2 buttons located to the left of the digital display. The display will show the actual plate temperature in degrees Celsius.

Press and hold the press to set button, the right hand one of the 2 buttons located to the left of the digital  display.

Adjust the set temperature by turning the knob located to the right of the digital display whilst continuing to hold in the press to set button. When the desired temperature is displayed release the press to set button. The display will revert to show the actual plate temperature and the instrument will begin to heat.

The set temperature can be observed at any time by pressing the press to set button. Turning the adjusting knob without pressing the press to set button will have no effect on the hotplate setting.

When finished set the temperature at 0 0C by turning the knob located to the right of the digital display whilst continuing to hold in the press to set button. When the desired temperature is displayed release the press to set button. Disconnect the hotplate from the mains electricity supply.

Maintenance and safety instructions

The hot plate must be dust-free.

Before cleaning disconnect the hotplate from the mains electricity supply and ensure that the top is cool.

The hotplate should be cleaned using a damp cloth and mild detergent solution.

Do not leave the hotplate switched on when not in use.
